Newton, MA October 11, 1999
The Massachusetts Port Authority web site designed and developed by RainCastle Communications and NetNumina Solutions, was recently named theGrand Award winner of The New York Festivals 1999 Interactive Multimedia Competition.
The awards ceremony was held in Washington, D.C. on October 1, 1999 after an all-day judging at the National Demonstration Laboratory for Interactive Information Technologies. The web site also earned a Gold Medal in the Consumer Targeted Information category. The New York Festivals, which identifies "The World's Best Work", receives 16,000 new examples each year of award winning print, radio, television and interactive ads, campaigns, and programs from 64 countries. The winning work in The New York Festivals' annual competitions provides marketing and media practitioners with insight into the state of communications globally.
The Massport web site beat out competitors from around the world including Mercedes Benz, NASA, American Express, Sapient and Audi.
"From day one, consumer reaction to the site was phenomenal," said Massport's Director of Communications Joey Cuzzi. "We knew we were providing easy access to information that was otherwise hard to come by, and we were extremely pleased that the hit rate in the first month exceeded what our old site generated over a number of years. To win such a prestigious award is the icing on the cake."
The Massachusetts Port Authority web site www.massport.com, which was launched in June, 1999 is information-rich and customer service focused, designed for anyone who needs information about Massport facilities. "One of our primary goals for the Massport web site was to provide an easy-to-use and robust user interface," said Paul Regensburg, President and Creative Strategist for RainCastle Communications.
